To My Sister Warriors-Happy Mother’s Day

To My Sister Warriors-Happy Mother’s DayI woke up this morning, with no intention of writing. But as I was doing my morning scroll of Facebook, I realized something. We are an incredibly special group of moms, united by addiction, into a sisterhood of a lifelong bond.

Some of us have lost loved ones.

Some of us have loved ones still struggling.

Some of us have sons and daughters currently in prison.

Some of us have been blessed to have our children in recovery.

THESE are the women are who fearless.

THESE are the women who have busted down drug dealer’s doors to pull their daughter out.

THESE are the women who have given their son CPR, in a frantic moment of saving their life.

THESE are the women who don’t sleep at night, but yet go to work every day, with fear in their stomachs and a fake smile on their face.

THESE are the women who have been spit on, screamed at, stolen from, but yet love their child even more, as they know it’s the addiction doing these horrible things.

THESE are the women who have seen and experienced things that will haunt them in their dreams for a lifetime.

THESE are the women who do better research than the FBI.

THESE are the women who uplift each other in prayer and strength with complete strangers.

THESE are the women who shed tears for total strangers and celebrate little victories.

I write this with tears…tears of love, sadness and admiration. These women are the most beautiful women I have ever been connected with. I have formed incredible relationships and most I have never met.

Happy Mother’s Day to these women, my sisters, I love you all.

Happy Mother’s Day to you beautiful lady ☺Thank you for posting this! You have made my day! I’m an addict with a little over five years sober from heroin. Your words have touched me deeply. I know I put my friends and family through hell while I was using. The pain I feel now for the things I did is sometimes unbearable. Some of my friends and family have forgiven me and some haven’t. I’ve been blessed with my daughter Emma-Lee she’s two and my son Ricky he’s three. They’re my rocks my everything! Every day I get down on my knees and thanks god for my babies. Happy Mother’s Day! I hope it’s filled with laughter and memories you can look back in and smile! ??

Thank you, that was beautiful – I just read this after receiving a call from my son Joe – who lives 19 hours from me. He said “Mom, I wish I could send you flowers” but to me his calling was worth more than flowers. Everything you said is true – but times like now, I feel like I am going to lose it. I can’t stop thinking about this, I’ve been through this before – he remained cleaned for 2 years, what peace we had. Now all hell has broken lose and all I can do is pray for him. Is it terrible to think about his funeral? Is it terrible that I feel so helpless and drained and not want to deal with this anymore? I have three other children who are also struggling with this – waiting to get that phone call that their brother Joey has passed away. What a way of life for us. I can only be thankful that at this minute, he is still alive. Today, I will be thankful for all my children – remembering all the good times we had, and hoping to put all this hell in god’s hands because I can’t handle it anymore. Happy Mother’s Day to you all.

For ten years my family went through torment. As a mom I screamed, I cried, I begged GOD, I stood up the demon of addition and defied him to loosen my baby boy’s soul that he gripped. I was relentius on letting my son be on that list. I became so Intense and driven that it was almost insane…and then…when it looked like hope was gone GOD showed up and from that point to this point has been free for 5 years. Moms you are your children’s strongest link…let me encourage you..IF HE did it for mine HE can do it for yours. Understanding breaking the chains of addition is a sacrifice of relentless praying and putting your trust in a higher POWER. Another mother who knows your pain…karen

I recently started reading your blog but intentionally skipped this one. I went back and read it today. My boyfriend was finally transferred from county jail to inpatient. This will be his first time in any treatment. I held off on this particular blog entry because my boyfriend lost his mother when he was 11 years old (and shortly after she passed, his father and brother did as well). I wish everyday that his mother was still alive as I know she would have been there every step of the way. His sister and aunt are great supports for him but no substitute for mom. Kudos to all you moms sticking by your children. And for any girlfriends or wives reading this – I feel you! Hang in there sisters! Thank you to all who comment and to Katie and Brittany for sharing your journey. It gives me hope – which in this situation can be hard to come by.

I love you Katie! Thank you for teaching me how to be strong.
